Product Review: Leyende Place in the Sun Face Sunblock SPF 30
![]() I got into an organic-product phase fairly recently, and this was one of the products I bought. I'm still a big supporter of organics, especially those which are locally made, but I've also ventured into the world beyond, provided that the products suited my sensitive skin. Anyway, this is an organic sunblock made by Leyende Organics, the company that made locally-produced organic goods popular in the first place.:) It is "enriched with vitamin E, tinosorb, allantoin and aloe." Tinosorb, an effective natural-based sunblock agent (more info here), allantoin and titanium dioxide are combined to provide broad spectrum UVA/UVB sun protection. Best of all, the consistency is smooth and light and non-greasy! http://www.leyende.com/ The first time I tried this on my face, I got itchy red rashes so I resorted to using this only on my arms and legs. It worked fine then. However, when Ivy asked me if I could do a review on this, I decided to give it another shot as a face sunblock. My main problem with this sunblock is that I can't help but be a little skeptical about its UV-protective properties, considering it's a non-mainstream, organic sunscreen. That's why I dared not use this on the beach, and came to use it only on regular days in the city. I still can't be sure as to the efficacy of its SPF and broad-spectrum protection, but what I can say is I do like its consistency. It's all that the website says: "smooth, light and non-greasy." And this time around, I didn't get any rashes.:) So my previous skin reaction must have been provoked by something else, or my skin was just extra-extra-sensitive then. I put an ample amount of this in the morning after Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel - I use about one third of a finger, and some more as needed to put on my neck. This didn't make me any oilier, though I do have naturally oily skin so I still got shiny after several hours. It was a great base for foundation or face powder, too. It gives the powder more of a hold. And best of all, it doesn't have a medicinal or chemical smell like most sunscreens. It has a mild, fragrant scent. It's a plus, of course, that it's organic, so I'm confident that I'm not putting any harmful chemicals on my face, nor contributing much to pollution (I've always been something of an environmentalist). It's also very convenient to buy, as I only had to order from the Leyende website and pay through GCash. Neva, the owner of Leyende Organics, was very accommodating and shipped on time. Now I'm back to using it as a daily sunblock, and I'll try to finish up this tube before switching back to L'Oreal UV Perfect.:) This is a product worth trying.:) Comments: Thanks for the review! I keep forgetting that there are locally made organic sunscreens available. I'll give it a try soon. Comments: thank you for reviewing this! Comments: nice review.. being organic is definitely a plus:D Comments: Organics are really nice, but to be honest I'm a bit nervous about using non-mainstream products for the SPF...cause you're not really sure, like you said. Nice review!! :) Comments: Thanks for the review! I'm glad you included the tip about the moisturizer..me kasi, either moisturizer only or sunblock only w/c serves as a base na. I'm afraid that it will be way too oily if I use both hehe..i'll try now to use both. Thanks again for the great review! :) Comments: I am skeptical on organic products since none of them worked on my face. So I still use chemical laden beauty products from the derma. =) Comments: thanks for posting, been waiting for your review of this :) i love organic products but i'm still kinda scared that this might give my face rashes too, hehe. Comments: Thanks for the revie. I'm pro organic too but I haven't tried that many. I still have a lot of products to finish hehe. Have a good day =D Comments: Thanks too, everyone!:) Comments: Thanks for following sweetie :) Not sure where you are, but if you go to an Asian market, they probably carry those sticky rice flour, it's super cheap too, I got it for like 89 cents a bag, haha. I'm following your blog too ;) Comments: Thank you for following my blog! :) I wish I could use any sunscreen I want, but I have to be careful. I took a lab class in college and it changed the reaction on my face. :/ After that class, I couldn't wear sunscreen... booo~ :( I get so envious of people who can wear sunscreen with no irritation... hehe~ Yahoo: clinique whitening mask Product Review: Leyende Place in the Sun Face Sunblock SPF 30 clinique whitening mask Obagi Skin Care ProductsGoogle: clinique whitening mask Obagi Skin Care Products Product Review: Leyende Place in the Sun Face Sunblock SPF 30 clinique whitening mask |
